Candlelight Concert Series Brings Magical Music to St George’s Church

Candlelight, the globally acclaimed concert series that brings classical music to extraordinary venues, will be staged at St George’s for the very first time.

Produced by Fever, the series is designed to make classical music more accessible by reimagining it in unique cultural spaces. From 8 November, St George’s Church will be transformed into a breathtaking setting illuminated by thousands of candles, creating an intimate atmosphere for a series of performances. The programme will open with ‘Rings and Dragons’, offering audiences a magical experience that has already captivated listeners in more than 150 cities worldwide.

Candlelight concerts have been hosted in some of the world’s most remarkable venues, ranging from modern rooftops with panoramic views to historic cathedrals, palaces, libraries, and gardens. Iconic locations have included the Atomium in Brussels, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Central Hall Westminster in London, Barcelona’s Palau de la Música Catalana, and even the majestic Niagara Falls in Ontario.

In Leeds, Candlelight will feature performances by a local string quartet, showcasing the series’ commitment to collaborating with talented regional musicians who share the vision of making classical music accessible to all. This innovative format blends tradition with modernity, offering a rich and varied programme designed to suit every taste. The candlelit concerts attract a broad audience — including many who may never have attended a classical music performance before.

In this intimate setting, audiences can lose themselves in timeless works by composers such as Vivaldi, Mozart, and Chopin, while also enjoying fresh, reimagined interpretations of contemporary favourites from artists like Queen, ABBA, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran.
