Leeds City Centre to Host Beloved Festive Market This Christmas

Leeds City Centre is set to welcome the return of its highly successful festive market this Christmas, following its impressive inaugural year.

The enhanced Leeds Christmas Market is scheduled to reopen on Friday, November 22, featuring approximately 70 traditional stalls operated by international, national, and local vendors across two main city locations. Last year marked the market’s debut, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to Leeds for a dose of festive joy.

In response to extensive feedback from both visitors and traders, this year’s market will be primarily situated at City Square and Millennium Square. Additionally, the event will include pop-up musical performances and a variety of Christmas-themed food and drink. Seasonal outdoor bars will also be available at City Square, Victoria Gardens, and Millennium Square, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Visitors can anticipate a festive array of stalls at this year’s Leeds Christmas Market, offering unique gifts, crafts, and delectable treats from around the globe. Additionally, every weekend during the market’s run, Little Bird’s artisan market will take place at Bond Court (off Park Row). This special weekend event celebrates independent producers and creators, adding a unique flair to the holiday festivities.

Running alongside the market, the Ice Cube at Christmas offers fun for the whole family with its popular ice skating rink. Located in Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens, it’s a joyful activity that complements the shopping experience, running until December 31, 2024. Whether you’re a seasoned skater or stepping onto the ice for the first time, it’s a perfect way to make memories this holiday season.

The Leeds Christmas Market will grace the city from November 22 to December 22, 2024. Concurrently, the Ice Cube event will be available from November 22 until December 31, 2024.

Nirmal Bassi, Leeds Christmas Market manager said:

“After carefully considering feedback from both visitors and traders, we’ve made exciting improvements to the market layout. We’re delighted to be back, bringing the festive sights, sounds, and aromas of Christmas to the city.”

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s deputy leader and executive member for economy, transport and sustainable development said:

“We’re thrilled to be welcoming the Christmas market back to Leeds after such an exciting and successful debut year last year. The festive season is always a very special time in Leeds, and it’s great to see thousands of people coming together to experience Christmas at the heart of the city and making such great use of the newly redeveloped City Square space.”

Operated by Market Place, the UK’s largest Christmas market operator, the Leeds Christmas Market is expertly managed and free for the city council, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors. With no expense spared in creating a magical holiday atmosphere, the market is a testament to the city’s commitment to celebrating the festive season in style.

As the dates draw near, more details about specific events, special offers, and guest appearances will be released. Visitors are encouraged to plan their trips in advance to make the most of the festive season in Leeds. Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift, a delightful meal, or simply a festive outing with loved ones, Leeds Christmas Market is the place to be this winter.

Prepare to be swept away by the festive cheer and community spirit at the Leeds Christmas Market. It’s more than just a market; it’s a holiday celebration to remember www.visitleeds.co.uk
