Celebrate International Women’s Day with a Zumba Dance party at Trinity Leeds

A special celebration of Zumba is to be held at Trinity Leeds to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Women of all ages are being offered the opportunity to take part in a Zumba Dance party, which will be held from 5-7pm, on March 8 outside the Apple Store. No experience of Zumba is necessary or special clothing or equipment required, with the only condition asked of those taking part that they bring their jiggle! Supporting the event on the day and offering a wealth of advice and support will be ambassadors from the successful Leeds Girls Can initiative. Currently there are over 300 women taking part in Leeds Girls Can activities, with 61% of those participating, identifying themselves as inactive before enrolling.

Organised by Leeds City Council, Trinity Leeds and Sport Leeds Board, this free Zumba taster event forms part of a range of work being undertaken by the authority and partners to encourage people of all ages to be fit and active.

Councillor James Lewis, Leeds City Council’s executive member with responsibility for sport said:

“Through our wide ranging programme, we are always looking at new and innovative ways to encourage people to enjoy sport and exercise. We are delighted therefore to be offering girls and women of all ages and experience the chance to celebrate International Women’s Day in style by taking part in a very special Zumba Dance party at Trinity Leeds on March 8 from 5pm to 7pm!

“This promises to be great fun and a unique way to hopefully introduce Zumba and its benefits to a new audience. I would like to thank both Trinity Leeds and Sports Leeds Board for their help in arranging this event.”
