Leeds Beckett Students Transform Atrium into Live Sustainable Fashion Hub

Leeds Beckett University students are set to transform a city-centre atrium into a live sustainable fashion hub, combining a pop-up shop, conference programme, workshops and performances in a two-day showcase of circular style.

The International Circular Fashion Week event will take place on 16–17 March 2026 at The Rose Bowl Atrium in partnership with Circular Fashion Incubator CIC, bringing together student enterprise with speakers from the UK and overseas.

At the heart of the programme will be a fully operational Oxfam pop-up shop, led by students and selling preloved clothing alongside books and music. The space will also feature live DJ sets, styled rails, fitting rooms, a donation station and interactive installations designed to make sustainable shopping feel immediate and engaging.

Students from fashion, marketing, music and other creative disciplines are co-creating the event, turning the atrium into a public-facing demonstration of how circular fashion works in practice — from reuse and repair through to redesign and resale.

So what sets it apart? The programme blends retail, research and performance in one live setting, including:

  • A student-led Oxfam pop-up shop selling preloved clothing, books and music, backed by live DJ sets.
  • A live conference featuring international speakers in circular design and heritage craft.
  • Hands-on denim repair and customisation workshops open to attendees.
  • On-site academic research tracking real-time consumer behaviour.
  • Performance, fashion showcases and market stalls running alongside formal talks.

Alongside the retail activity, the International Circular Fashion Week Conference will explore cultural storytelling, traditional craft, upcycling and the future of sustainable fashion, with academic research teams also observing real-time consumer behaviour on site.

Dr Esther Pugh of Leeds Beckett University said: “Experience fashion like never before! Our multi-sensory circular fashion event is designed to immerse you in every stitch, story and sound. Discover the movement, engage your senses and be part of the change. See you there!”

Hands-on denim repair and customisation workshops will run across the two days, alongside fashion showcases, performances and market stalls — placing creative work and practical action alongside formal talks and debate.

Organisers say the event aims to position Leeds as a growing hub for circular fashion by blending education, community engagement and global dialogue under one roof.
