Arriva is to offer free bus travel across West Yorkshire on Sunday 12 April in a move aimed at thanking customers following a major programme of investment and improvement across its local network.
The free travel offer will apply to all Arriva Yorkshire bus services operating in West Yorkshire, giving passengers the chance to travel at no cost for the day. The initiative comes as the bus operator continues to roll out a series of improvements, including the recent introduction of 50 brand new buses on routes in Wakefield and Castleford. The vehicles were built by Alexander Dennis in Scarborough.
Arriva said the free travel day is part of its efforts to recognise customer support while showcasing the changes made across the network. These include a major recruitment and training drive, upgraded depot facilities, multi-million-pound investment in new buses and ongoing work to improve reliability.

Passengers are being encouraged to use the free travel offer to get out and explore attractions across the region. Suggested destinations include Leeds Market, The Hepworth Wakefield, Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford, Redbrick in Batley and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, all of which are accessible on Arriva’s West Yorkshire network.
