Youngsters will have the chance to hone and develop their golf skills at a specially designed six-hole pitch and putt course at a public golf club.
Open until September 5, 2016, young people aged 16 and under can for £2, can test their mettle with friends on the short course at Leeds City Council managed Temple Newsam Golf Club. Parents or guardians are also welcome to join their children free of charge and take on the short course.
With the facility unsupervised, it is recommended that an adult is present as the children play. As part of the minimal cost, equipment is also provided on every visit.
Also available on selected dates in July and August are free junior golf tuition events hosted by expert coaches. Those taking part in either of the two sessions from 12-1.30pm and 13.45pm-14.45pm will be able to learn a range of skills including the best way to play, and how to maximise their short game, putting and full swing.
Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment and sustainability said:
“We are delighted to be offering a six-hole pitch and putt course at Temple Newsam Golf Club this summer, which is a great way for young people to be introduced to the sport and also improve their skills.
“Also available will be a series of free golf tuition events in July and August for young people hosted by expert coaches that really do promise to be fantastic. With demand set to be high, we would ask people to book their places as soon as possible.”
