Northern Launches £10,000 Boost for Grassroots Rugby League Clubs

Grassroots rugby league clubs across the UK are being offered a £10,000 boost after Northern launched a new prize giveaway featuring kit, training equipment and match tickets.

Northern, an official partner of the sport, is inviting clubs of all kinds to enter — from youth and senior teams to community groups, as well as school and college sides. Entries are open until Friday, 20 March, with winners selected through a prize draw.

The top prize includes 30 playing kits and 30 training kits, alongside a major equipment bundle: a bag of Steeden match balls, two ball bins, four branded corner flags, four rugby post protectors, 20 bibs, four tackle shields, 30 water bottles and 100 cones. The winning club will also receive 30 tickets to this season’s Magic Weekend and 30 tickets to the Super League Grand Final.

Alex Hornby, commercial and customer director at Northern said:

“We serve communities across the North of England and know just how much rugby league matters to them – that’s why we look forward to running this competition every year.

“It gives us the opportunity to support some fantastic grassroots clubs, by giving away thousands of pounds worth of kit, training equipment and match tickets.

“We’re always impressed by the entries we receive, with players and coaches showing us just how passionate they are about their clubs and the sport.”

Five runners-up prizes are also available. Each will receive a bag of Steeden balls, 20 bibs, four tackle shields, 30 water bottles and 100 cones, plus 30 tickets to Magic Weekend and 30 tickets to the Grand Final.

Last year’s winners were Batley ARLFC Under 8s, who marked their success with a special coaching session led by Huddersfield Giants star Tom Burgess before collecting their prizes. To enter, clubs must submit their details along with a photograph of the team in action. Eligible entries will then be included in the draw.
