The city of Leeds is gearing up to celebrate its local sporting talent and the often-overlooked heroes who make significant contributions to the community’s athletic spirit.
The 22nd Leeds Sports Awards is now accepting nominations, calling upon the public to recognize and honor the achievements of athletes, coaches, and volunteers alike. Scheduled to be held at the Carriageworks Theatre on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the event promises to be a spectacular occasion, marking the first time the awards ceremony will take place at this venue. This year’s awards will see a total of 15 accolades being presented across various categories, celebrating a wide array of achievements.
Nominations are open for 13 award categories, with a special focus this year on the newly introduced Sustainability Award. The year 2024 was an outstanding period for sports in Leeds, highlighted by the commendable performances of local Olympians and Paralympians. The city also successfully hosted several major events, including the Super League Magic Weekend for the first time and the second annual Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. These events not only showcased the athletic prowess of the participants but also the city’s capability to host large-scale sporting events.

“The Leeds Sports Awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the Leeds sporting calendar as we celebrate the performances of athletes, of all levels and ages, coaches, administrators and volunteers from across the city during 2024.”

The Leeds Sports Awards provide an opportunity for the unsung heroes and world leading athletes to be acknowledged on the same stage.”
Organized by Sport Leeds and supported by Leeds City Council, the Leeds Sports Awards are a testament to the city’s ongoing commitment to sports excellence and community development. The deadline for submitting nominations is March 15, 2025, and the community is encouraged to participate actively in nominating their sports heroes.
