The Lord Mayor of Leeds has extended best wishes to all athletes from or based in Leeds as they prepare to compete in the Olympic Games in Paris.

“The Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games which follow are the highlight of any sporting summer, and we know our athletes will do us proud showcasing their talents to the huge watching global audience. Best wishes to them all.”

Immediately following the Olympics, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will highlight the incredible skills and determination of athletes with disabilities. This event, running from August 28 to September 8, will feature competitions in sports such as wheelchair basketball, para-swimming, and para-athletics, among others. The Paralympic Games continue to grow in prominence, showcasing not only the athletic prowess of its participants but also the inspiring stories of their journeys.
