The play area is accessible to children of various ages and abilities and includes a large canopy, ensuring fun playtime regardless of the weather. The new features at the White Rose Shopping Centre’s expanded play area have been selected based on guest feedback, each designed to enhance mental and physical development:
- A ‘theatre and music’ playhouse equipped with xylophone and drum panels encourages explorative play and social cooperation, while its climbable areas help develop motor skills such as cross-body coordination.
- A farmyard-inspired tractor slide promotes dramatic play with its thematic design, enhancing communication skills, while its tunnel and slide aid in developing cross-coordination and balance.
- A wobble bridge challenges children to improve their balance and confidence using suspended horizontal logs.
- Balance bumps and an activity trail help hone gross motor skills and facilitate decision-making.
- A hopscotch area fosters competitiveness and encourages general social interaction.
The play area and The Village at the White Rose Shopping Centre are designated smoke-free zones, aligning with Leeds City Council’s Clean Air Leeds initiative to promote a healthier environment.
