Little Bird Made was awarded the contract to manage the new artisan market in Briggate following a competitive tendering process.
Briggate in Leeds is set to enhance its shopping experience with the introduction of a new artisan market, adding a splash of handmade charm to the city center. The Leeds Briggate Market will take place monthly starting Sunday, June 23. This market will highlight the talents of independent producers and crafters, offering an array of products such as clothing, jewelry, art, home decor, toys, and pet treats at its outdoor stalls. Alongside shopping, visitors can enjoy a variety of street food and live music performances. This new market initiative replaces a previous food-centric market operated by Leeds City Council on selected Sundays, continuing the tradition of vibrant community-focused events on Briggate.
The newly established artisan market in Briggate will be managed by Little Bird Made, a company renowned for its success in organizing similar markets across Yorkshire. Little Bird Made currently operates monthly markets in nine different locations, including Wetherby, Knaresborough, Harrogate, Ripon, and Thirsk. The company also collaborates with Harewood House to host the estate’s annual winter artisan market. This experience positions Little Bird Made as an ideal partner to bring a vibrant, artisan-focused market to the heart of Leeds.
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s deputy leader and executive member for economy, culture and education said:
“We’re hugely proud of our existing retail offer here in Leeds, but equally we are always striving to make it even better by providing more choice and more attractions for residents and visitors alike. The new Leeds Briggate Market – as well as the ongoing success of the revitalised Leeds Kirkgate Market and other shopping destinations – shows the benefit of that kind of ambitious approach.
“The partnership between ourselves and Little Bird Made is really exciting, and one that we hope will give many local traders the chance to sell their goods and meet new customers in one of the city centre’s best-known locations. I look forward to seeing the market open for business this summer.”
Jackie Crozier, managing director of Little Bird Made said:
“We want to give local communities the best artisan stalls, while also giving traders – from Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond – the best opportunities to showcase and sell their handmade goods. Bringing people together by creating a fun space where they can hang out, eat and shop has been our mission ever since I founded the company in 2018. I’m delighted to be bringing Little Bird to Leeds city centre. Having previously lived in the city for 10 years, it feels like coming home.”
At Little Bird Artisan Market, our goal is to support local communities by providing a platform for the best artisan stalls, giving traders prime opportunities to display and sell their handmade goods. We are dedicated to showcasing local artisans and small creative pop-ups, fostering a sense of community through our high-quality markets.
Our mission is to bring people together in a vibrant, friendly atmosphere where families and friends can gather to eat, drink, shop, and enjoy themselves. The Little Bird Artisan Market isn’t just about shopping; it’s a celebration of independent producers and makers. It’s about connecting with the people behind the products, enjoying conversations with friends, and reviving the social aspect of shopping. Join us to experience a diverse and quality shopping environment that goes beyond the transaction to highlight the heart of our community.
