Public consultation opens regarding potential reconfiguration of Temple Newsam Golf Course

Leeds, Leeds Star

Leeds City Council would like to hear your views regarding a proposal to reconfigure Temple Newsam Golf Course from a 36-hole course to 27.

This follows Temple Newsam Golf Club putting forward plans to change the design of the existing golf course as part of its long-term vision to attract new players and increase general participation numbers in the future. If given the go-ahead, a reconfigured 18-hole golf course aimed at the more experienced golfer would be created, alongside a new 9-hole golf course offering those who are perhaps new to the sport or wishing to have a less challenging course option with a chance to play. No part of the proposals put forward through the consultation, relate in any way to the closure of the golf course.

Should the council give its approval to the plans, any unused land from the golf course reconfiguration would then form part of the natural habitat of Temple Newsam estate.
