Lord Mayor leads celebration of small groups and charities in Leeds

Over 100 small voluntary groups and charities in Leeds have been recognised by the Lord Mayor of Leeds for the contribution they make to the city.

Over 200 individuals from different communities and charities attended the special event at Leeds Civic Hall, which was organised in partnership with Voluntary Action Leeds. Each organisation received a certificate from the Lord Mayor in recognition of the great work and positive contribution they have made.

There were also opportunities at the event for people to get more information about the support and funding available to help them grow and nurture their activities and groups.

Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Eileen Taylor said:

“I am delighted that we had the chance to recognise the contribution of so many individuals and organisations that make such a positive impact on the city and the wellbeing of local residents. There are a vast number of small groups and charities that help to make Leeds a great place to live and the work done in communities by these groups and individuals helps to show our compassion and strength.

“It was fantastic to be able to meet volunteers and workers and present certificates to them to recognise the work they do.”
