National Express is keeping Britain moving this weekend

Coach operator adds 5,000 more seats to meet demand during rail strikes.

Britons are still looking to make the most of the remaining Easter break and with rail strikes disrupting travel plans, National Express is helping to keep the country moving by adding more than 5,000 extra seats across its UK-wide coach network.

The UK’s leading scheduled coach operator is expecting to carry over 13% more passengers during the upcoming strike weekend and has added around 100 more coach departures on popular routes to meet customer demand. The additional seats have boosted overall capacity on National Express coach services to over 320,000 seats with customers able to enjoy great value fares on fast, frequent services connecting cities, towns and airports across 550 UK destinations.

Catherine Woolfe, Customer and Marketing Director for National Express UK & Ireland said:

“People deserve affordable, reliable and sustainable public transport and yet again they are seeing disruption on the railways. Our forward bookings show that demand for coach travel is up over 13 percent this weekend, with savvy customers turning to National Express for reliable, great value travel and a guaranteed seat.

“We’ve added extra capacity on our busiest routes to meet demand, however tickets are selling fast. Our network will be busier than usual so we strongly encourage customers to book their tickets in advance to get the best deals and let us do the driving so that they can enjoy a relaxing, comfortable journey to their destinations.”

National Express is the UK’s largest coach operator, running high frequency scheduled services linking more than 550 destinations across the country.
