Funded training to help almost 500 people build workplace skills in West Yorkshire

Almost 500 people across West Yorkshire are set to boost their workplace skills through a new programme of funded training.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority has partnered with training provider Realise to deliver a range of courses aimed at helping residents gain qualifications, build confidence and progress in their careers. A total of 361 people from Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield will take part in the latest round of training, which is funded through the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, also known as Free Courses for Jobs.

The programme includes certificates in coaching and mentoring, leadership and management, and specialist qualifications in SEND, autism and Forest School Leader. Diplomas in health and social care and early years are also available, offering learners structured routes into career development and progression.

Among the courses on offer are the Level 3 CMI Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring, designed for supervisors and managers who want to better support colleagues, and the Level 3 City & Guilds Certificate in Leadership and Management, aimed at aspiring and new leaders looking to strengthen their management skills.

Dan Goodall, Director of Adult Skills at Realise said:

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer these courses and qualifications in West Yorkshire. It is a region we have delivered in previously, helping people to progress in their careers and climb the job ladder.

“We have fantastic opportunities across multiple sectors and would be very happy talk to anyone interested about the options available.”

People hoping to advance in early years can choose from four options: the Level 3 Early Years SENCO Technical Specialist, Level 3 Principles of Leadership and Management, Level 3 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring, and the Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Early Years.

Some of the shorter Level 3 qualifications, including SEND, Understanding Autism and Forest School Leader, will be delivered in face-to-face community venues across the region. Realise, which supports more than 18,000 learners each year through apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps and other programmes, has also secured contracts to provide funded training in Liverpool, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire.

The latest initiative is intended to give residents the chance to gain valuable qualifications while helping employers across West Yorkshire develop a more skilled workforce www.realisetraining.com
