White Rose Shopping Centre has kicked off the festive season by launching its annual Christmas gift drive in partnership with Leeds-based charity Kidz Klub.
The initiative aims to bring joy to children and families across the city who may otherwise struggle during the festive period. Shoppers visiting White Rose are invited to donate new toys and gifts for children aged 0–16 years, with items for those aged 4 and above especially in demand. Donations can be dropped off at the appeal station located near the centre’s Christmas Grotto, where contributions will be accepted until Sunday 21st December.
Once collected, the gifts will be wrapped and distributed by Kidz Klub volunteers to families across Leeds, helping ensure that more children wake up to a magical Christmas morning. This year’s appeal takes on special significance as Kidz Klub marks 25 years of supporting children and families through community outreach, home visits, events, and activities.
The charity has reached more than 700,000 homes since its inception, and an overwhelming 74% of the children it supports say Kidz Klub helps them feel more confident and believe in themselves.
Ashleigh Kellett, Deputy Centre Director at White Rose Shopping Centre said:
“Our guests are always incredibly generous, and we know this year will be no different. The Christmas Appeal is special to all of us at White Rose and we’re proud to support a charity which spreads Christmas magic across the city; something that all children deserve.”
For more than two decades, Kidz Klub has been a beacon of hope for children and families across Leeds. Founded with a mission to support young people living in challenging circumstances, the charity has grown into a trusted community lifeline, offering practical help, emotional support, and unforgettable experiences for thousands of children.
Sarah Turner, Charity Co-Leader of Kidz Klub Leeds added:
“We are incredibly grateful to the shoppers and the amazing team at the White Rose for their generous support of our Christmas Toy Appeal. Thanks to your kindness and community spirit, hundreds of inner-city children across Leeds will receive a special gift this Christmas — a reminder that they are seen, valued, and loved. Your support truly makes a difference.”
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Kidz Klub continues to champion children who face poverty, isolation, or instability. Through a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, the organisation runs a broad programme of initiatives designed to create safe, positive environments where children can thrive.
From weekly clubs and school partnerships to special events and activities throughout the year, Kidz Klub provides spaces where children can build confidence, form friendships, and enjoy moments of joy that many might otherwise miss. The charity also works closely with schools and community groups to ensure the most vulnerable families receive the support they need www.kidzklubleeds.org.uk
With the support of White Rose visitors, Kidz Klub hopes to make this Christmas brighter for hundreds of Leeds children, reinforcing the spirit of kindness and community at the heart of the festive season.
