Together we can make a difference: Sponsor the Sparkle this Christmas and spread festive magic across Leeds Teaching Hospitals

Leeds Cares supports our local NHS hospitals in many ways to help add some sparkle for staff, patients and families in hospital this festive period.

Many of our regular Christmas events cannot take place this year due to current government guidelines. Initiatives like toy deliveries for the Children’s Hospital and gift drop offs for our adult patients, which we are so grateful for each year, are also facing restrictions which will affect the service we provide. As we’re sure all our supporters will appreciate, the safety of all the patients, the NHS staff and volunteers is paramount. So we’ve had to be creative, and I’m pleased to announce our Christmas campaign for this year:

We invite your business to sponsor one of the illuminated wall-mounted stars which will be installed on the Brotherton Wing, at Leeds General Infirmary,  overlooking Millennium Square.

Leeds Cares is delighted to announce that local financial business, and long-term supporter, Lowell are spreading some festive magic by ‘Sponsoring the Sparkle’ for NHS staff, patients and families in Leeds this year. Sponsor the Sparkle is an exciting new campaign which gives businesses the opportunity to continue their support for the NHS during this extremely difficult year and light up Leeds with their own sparkling star.

Businesses will also see their star light up Leeds General Infirmary, overlooking Millennium Square, in a special switch on event on Monday 30th November. The stars range from 80cm up to 350cm in diameter, so collectively, with the support of numerous businesses, the display will light up the Leeds sky.

Laura Webb, Interim Head of Corporate Partnerships at Leeds Cares said:

“A huge thank you to Lowell for sponsoring a star this Christmas, their on-going support is invaluable. Without support from local businesses we simply wouldn’t be able to what we do.

The money raised by our Sparkle campaign will help us spread festive cheer to the thousands of people who will receive care from Leeds Teaching hospitals over the Christmas period.”

Initiatives like toy deliveries for the Children’s Hospital and gift drop offs for our adult patients are facing restrictions this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the support from businesses like Lowell’s for this new campaign, is so important.

Jason Clarke, External Communications Manager at Lowell said:

“Leeds Cares do some wonderful work all year round and Lowell are delighted to support them. The work they do to support NHS staff and patients in fundamental in Leeds.

We hope that others will join us in sponsoring a star and put a sparkle in Christmas for those who need it the most.”

Our Goals:

  • Enabling the provision of exceptional healthcare and support for all
  • Supporting healthcare staff to make a difference for patients, families and carers
  • Enabling ground breaking research and innovation
  • Supporting collaboration and partnership working to deliver sustainable change in healthcare provision
  • Inspiring change and supporting opportunity to benefit the health and wellbeing of our communities.

The stars range from 80cm up to 350cm in diameter, so collectively the display will be impressive. The stars “switch on” will take place on Tuesday 1st December and sponsors involved will be displayed on the big screen in Millennium Square. Your cash donation will enable Leeds Cares to provide much needed sparkle this Christmas and New Year across Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
