Will you give children with cancer the magical Christmas they deserve?
For over 45 years, your kind support has brought hope to families affected by childhood cancer by ensuring they didn’t face a difficult Christmas alone. Because of you, we could provide those families with the emotional, practical and financial support they needed to get through Christmas and together, we made sure they still had some festive magic in the hardest of times.
This Christmas, your support will ensure families facing childhood cancer continue to receive the support they need. For children and families in hospital, we can bring the magic of Christmas to them. Your support will ensure children staying in hospital over Christmas this year are treated to many magical surprises to enjoy the special day, as well as making sure the many other children currently being treated for cancer, and those who will be diagnosed next year, are fully supported by Candlelighters through their journey.
We are also holding the much-loved Candlelighters Christmas Party. This event is cherished by the families we support for providing an opportunity to spend precious time together, make memories, and for children to enjoy the wonder of Christmas. There are costumes and characters, meet and greets with Santa, presents, food, music, games, and lots of happiness and fun. All of this helps to make Christmas truly magical for children with cancer.
Established in 1976, Candlelighters is a charity formed and run by parents of children who have or have had cancer, ex-patients and the medical staff who treat them. Based in Yorkshire, Candlelighters provides essential services and support to children with cancer and their families.
There are lots of ways you can support families facing childhood cancer this year, and every bit of support you can give makes a difference. If you’re able to support Candlelighters with a donation, every pound you can afford could help bring these families some much-needed magic at Christmas.
£10 could pay towards a Christmas Eve box for a child with cancer staying at the hospital, helping them feel they’re not missing out on the magic of Christmas.
£25 could pay for a child or family member to attend the Candlelighters Christmas Party, giving them precious time together as a family at Christmas.
£100 could pay for a Christmas grant for a family, ensuring that Christmas is as special and magical as possible for children on treatment and their siblings.
Could you bring some magic to a child facing cancer this Christmas by funding a place at our Christmas Party? For a family living with childhood cancer, it’s more important than ever to spend time together, make memories, and have some fun and escapism from their day-to-day reality. This is especially true at Christmas, which is why we hold a Christmas Party for families facing childhood cancer across Yorkshire. The Candlelighters Christmas Party is an event full of happiness and fun. It allows families to enjoy some much-needed Christmas joy together, making Christmas truly magical for children with cancer.

14-year-old Daniel from Todmorden, West Yorkshire, attended our 2019 Christmas Party with his family the day after he finished treatment for a brain tumour. His mum, Emma said:
“We had the most wonderful day together as a family. At the time, we still had no idea if Daniel’s treatment had worked, so it was a day to make memories, while all the time in the back of our minds was the thought that this could potentially be our last Christmas all together. I can honestly say it was a perfect day.”
This year’s Christmas Party will be held on 5th December. You can help make it magical by donating £25 to fund a child’s place at the party. Every pound you can give could help fund a child’s Christmas Party place, giving them some magic this Christmas www.candlelighters.enthuse.com
