Based at the Leeds Children’s Hospital, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund covers the regions of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Around 450 babies, children and adults from these regions need open heart surgery every year. We aim to ensure these patients have the best possible care and to help their families in whatever way needed during their stay in hospital. Our work is overseen by a board of Trustees – made up of clinical staff, parents and business leaders.

Childrens Heart Surgery FundWe raise money to help the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at the General Infirmary provide superb care for its patients and their families, but our work doesn’t stop there. More than 40% of the patients who have an operation will need long-term care, and each year 17,500 babies, children and adults pass through the unit.

Working alongside the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds General Infirmary, we are funded by generous donations from the general public, our corporate supporters and by the amazing efforts of our fundraisers. We’re only able to help because of your support, thank you. Our vision is to support hearts for life and our mission is to support the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit in becoming a world class centre of excellence – by providing the funding and resources needed to care for a patient’s heart, mind, family and future.

We provide life-saving medical equipment for the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, parent accommodation for families and vital ward resources. We also fund staff training, scientific research and new clinical roles. Our board of trustees meets regularly to review major requests for funding, and the board includes pioneering medical experts from the Heart Unit.

CHSFCHSF are wholly funded by your donations, and because of YOU we are able to help over 17,000 babies, children and adults living with congenital heart disease (CHD) each year. Thanks to you, your work colleagues, child’s school, local community, family and friends, CHSF can support hearts for life. Please continue to fundraise and spread our vital message.

We are proud to present Children’s Heart Surgery Fund’s Social Impact Report for 2020 and 2021. This report shows how far CHSF has come and represents a diverse range of projects supported in 2020 and 2021, segmented into four key areas: the Heart, the Mind, the Family and the Future. These areas of focus demonstrate the clear, wrap-around support we offer to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, as well as all the children and adults coming through the service. Read CHSF’s Social Impact Report 2020 and 2021 now
