Leeds Youth Celebrate A-Level and Post-16 Results.

Today, young people in Leeds are celebrating as they receive their A-Level and other post-16 exam results. Students throughout the city are discovering their performance outcomes, with this year’s national results expected to align closely with those from summer 2023. This year, marking and grading resumed normal procedures, with student grades reflecting their actual performance on assessments, showcasing their knowledge, understanding, and skills.

Last year, the grading process included considerations for disruptions caused by Covid-19, resulting in outcomes similar to those seen in 2019. From 2020 to 2022, there was a noted increase in higher grades, attributed to altered assessment methods and additional measures introduced in response to the pandemic’s impact.

Councillor Helen Hayden, Leeds City Council’s executive member for children and families said:

“Congratulations to all those in the city for the results they have received today. Students should be so proud of their amazing achievements which are the culmination of a lot of hard work and determination.

“We are firmly committed to ensuring that all young people in Leeds are given the best possible chance to fulfil their potential and leave school or college with essential skills and qualifications and today’s results reflect the quality of teaching and education on offer across the city.

“We wish all students the very best of luck for the future. There is a range of guidance and support for young people, including those that are worried they didn’t get the results they needed, to help them on their next steps. This could be in continuing higher education or starting an apprenticeship or entering the world of work.

“Schools and colleges are on hand to offer additional advice and guidance, and I want to thank all those staff for the assistance they continue to provide to young people in the city as they consider what they want to do next.”
