Join CHSF at our annual Superhero Walk on Sunday 10th September.
Because of super people like you, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund can raise money, fund life-saving projects and make a real difference to those living with congenital heart disease in our region. Nows the time to swoop into action, spread the word, collect sponsorship, and start getting excited for the most super day of the year. We encourage heart warriors and families to dress as their favourite superheroes and get sponsored to walk the 1km route. We cant wait to walk with you all at Superhero Walk 2023.
CHSF Superhero Walk has historically been one of the most popular events in Children’s Heart Surgery Fund charity calendar. CHSF’s amazing heart heroes and their families gather from across the region to take part in this annual event. It is only with your help and sponsorship, and the incredible individuals taking part in events such as this, that we can secure enough funds to keep being there for our heart patients and their families in the future. Do it for the real superheroes…
When? Sunday 10th September 2023, 11am – 2pm
Where? John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds, LS11 5DJ
What will be happening on the day? As well as a 1 kilometre superhero walk there will be raffle, tombola, market stalls, a face painter, and much more!
Cost: This event is free but families must register to attend. We ask that families raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship for the walk.
You’re a hero to children like Belle. Belle was diagnosed with congenital heart disease aged five months old, after she attended a routine hospital check-up for a heart murmur in Hull. It was then her family were told Belle had Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF) and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and without urgent surgery at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, Belle would only survive to her teenage years.

Thankfully the incredible team at Leeds were able to successfully operate on Belle, who has gone on to have a very good recovery and is back home with her family.
Based at the Leeds Children’s Hospital, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund covers the regions of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Around 450 babies, children and adults from these regions need open heart surgery every year. We aim to ensure these patients have the best possible care and to help their families in whatever way needed during their stay in hospital. Our work is overseen by a board of Trustees – made up of clinical staff, parents and business leaders.
Our vision is to support hearts for life and our mission is to support the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit in becoming a world class centre of excellence – by providing the funding and resources needed to care for a patient’s heart, mind, family and future.
